MSoc: Wake Tech Drops Heartbreaker to Nationally Ranked Louisburg

Eagles fall to Louisburg, 2-1.

While the Eagles have never overlooked an opponent, there are two dates on the schedule that take on a different meaning.  Those two dates are the home and away matches against Louisburg College.

Wednesday's game lived up to all expectations, but the dramatic ending could have had a more favorable ending.

Wake Tech took the lead a little more than a half hour into play and held on to it for another 42 minutes of action.  It wasn't until there was less than 20 minutes left in the contest the Hurricanes drew even at 1-1.

The game remained tied at the end of regulation, but after 108 minutes of total playing time, Louisburg put the go-ahead goal into the net.

While the immediate reaction is one of heartbreak, the Eagles should applaud their ability to take a nationally ranked opponent to the limit.

Teams around the conference and the country will certainly take notice.

The Eagles play their next home match on Friday, September 7 when Wake Tech welcomes USC Lancaster to Ting Park in Holly Springs.
