Wake Tech Volleyball Releases 2017 Schedule
The Wake Tech volleyball team is set for the 2017 season as head coach Stephanie Sports announced the upcoming 2017 schedule.
The Wake Tech volleyball team is set for the 2017 season as head coach Stephanie Sports announced the upcoming 2017 schedule. "Our schedule is tough," Sports said. "It's a reflection of the competition we face not only in our conference, but in our division and in the state of North Carolina."
The Eagles ended the 2016 season with a 26-12 record, and finished fifth in the Carolinas-Virginia Conference. The Eagles host NCAA Division II opponent Shaw University in their only scrimmage on Friday, August 18th at 5:00pm.
Wake Tech will remain at home to open the regular season on Tuesday, August 23rd when the Eagles welcome the Storm of Davidson County Community College at 7:00pm.
The first road trip of the season is the following night when the Eagles travel to Pinehurst to face the Flyers of Sandhills Community College.
Conference play begins on Saturday, September 9 during a tri-match event at the Southern Wake Campus. Wake Tech hosts Pitt Community College at 11:00am, followed by a visit from Walter's State Community College at 3:00pm.
The longest stretch away from home is from mid to late September and will serve as the prefect tune up for the post season. The time away will not be easy as the Eagles face Surry Community College on September 21st and the defending conference champion, Catawba Valley Community College on September 22nd.
Wake Tech returns home for a slew of games during the month of October. The Eagles welcome rivals Louisburg College on October 11th at 6:00pm, conference newcomer Richard Bland on October 20th at 6:00pm, and the season wraps up with a highly anticipated match against the 2016 NJCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament Fourth Place finisher Catawba Valley Community College on October 27th at 4:00pm.
Volleyball plays their home games at the Main Campus Gym. Students, faculty, and staff enter each game FREE with a valid Wake Tech ID.
