Five women's soccer players receive All-Region honors
Raleigh, N.C. — Five Wake Tech women's soccer players received All-Region honors this season, with four being named to the first team. The Eagles wrapped up regular season play a week ago and begin their postseason journey on Wednesday afternoon.
Kaylee Faile, Forward - First Team
Kaylee Faile put together a strong freshman season, recording eight goals thus far, four of which came in Region 10 games. The Rocky Mount native has started all eight contests for the Eagles this season. On September 16, she set her career-high with four goals scored in the 7-0 win against Central Carolina Club.
Averi Richmond, Defender - First Team
Averi Richmond, a transfer from Lees-McRae, has been a stalwart in defense for the Eagles this season, making eight starts on the backline. The sophomore from Fuquay-Varina has also added a goal and an assist this season, her lone goal serving as the game winner in the 2-1 win over Hagerstown earlier this season.
Jocelyn Tavira-Gallardo, Midfielder - First Team
Jocelyn Tavira-Gallardo receives first-team honors as well, after a regular season that saw her start eight games in midfield. The Methodist transfer has scored twice and tallied one assist to this point in the seaosn. She scored the opener in a 2-2 draw against Richard Bland.
Katelynn Angel, Goalkeeper - First Team
Katelynn Angel has played every minute in goal for the Eagles this season, recording one shutout and holding opponents to an average of 1.5 goals per game. She's recorded 44 saves, the most for a freshman at Wake Tech since Emma Slater's 53 in the 2022 season.
Mariah Olivares, Midfielder - Second Team
Mariah Olivares receives All-Region honors for the second-straight season. The Fuquay-Varina native is has now made 18 career appearances and 16 starts during her Wake Tech career. She has started all eight games this season in midfield, and has tallied one goal to this point.
Next up, Region 10 Semifinal at Richard Bland
The Eagles travel to South Prince George, VA on Wednesday afternoon to take on Richard Bland in the Region 10 Semifinal. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:00 PM, with the winner advances to play Cape Fear in the championship game on Saturday, October 25. Wake Tech's season came to an end a year ago at home in a nail-biting 2-1 loss. A win would put the Eagles back in the Region 10 championship game for the first time since 2023.
