Bio

Coach Daniel L. Colvin enters his first year as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Wake Technical Community College, where he also serves as an Educational Pathways Coordinator.

A former standout student-athlete and lifelong coach, Colvin was inducted into the Barton College Athletics Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements as a four-year men’s basketball player and his distinguished coaching career. As a player, he was a four-year starter, three-year team captain, and senior-year team MVP, and he currently holds the program’s all-time record for three-pointers made. He brings more than two decades of coaching experience, including over 20 years leading women’s basketball programs, with a proven commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy has been shaped through mentorship under legendary Coach Wendee Saintsing, who won over 600 games at Division II Barton College, reinforcing a foundation of excellence, discipline, and program success.

Coach Colvin’s philosophy centers on toughness, building strong relationships, fostering accountability, and prioritizing academic success. He is dedicated to creating a competitive, disciplined program while preparing student-athletes to transfer to four-year institutions and succeed beyond basketball.

His playing and coaching career is complemented by a strong academic background, including a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Barton College, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, and ongoing doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Carson–Newman University (expected May 2027).
