Iveonna Ward earns All-Region honors

RALEIGH, N.C. — Iveonna Ward of Wake Tech women's basketball received Third Team All-Region honors, Region 10 announced over the weekend. 

The freshman guard is the team's leading scorer as they enter the postseason, averaging 16 points per game, which is also good for fifth-best among Region 10 DII players. Ward's offensive output is the highest for a freshman at Wake Tech since Charbreanna Vann averaged 19.1 per game in the 2019-20 season. 

Ward's production is not limited to scoring, she has brought in 5.3 rebounds per game, and has also tallied a team-leading 3.1 steals per game, which is also third in Region 10.

Wake Tech women's basketball opens Region 10 DII Tournament play on Monday in a first round matchup at Southwest Virginia. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 in Cedar Bluff, and the game will be streamed on YouTube by Southwest Virginia.
