RALEIGH – A lot of has changed in the world during the past 15 months and the same is true for Wake Tech Volleyball. In 2021, the Eagles will be playing in a new home and sporting new uniforms featuring a complete refresh to reflect Wake Tech's new branding with new colors and new logos.
After COVID-19 impacted the Wake Tech volleyball schedule in 2020, the Eagles are embarking on the 2021 season with a complete fresh start.
"I'm really excited about this season," said head coach Brian Harris. "We have a tremendous recruiting class that will be exciting to watch and work with. Even before they attend a class, they are working hard at home preparing for the upcoming season. We have depth at every position."
The Eagles will be playing home games at the Scott Northern Wake Campus (Building K) located at 6600 Louisburg Road. While the Eagles did play one game in the beautiful 1,500 seat gymnasium in 2019, it will become the home gym for Wake Tech Volleyball.
"With the move to our beautiful North campus gym and weight room, we have one of the best college facilities around regardless of competition level. We can't wait to get started," Harris added.
The opening home game in 2021 will be against Davidson-Davie Community College on August 24 at 6:30pm. The Eagles start the 2021 campaign on August 19 at Central Carolina Community College followed by a scrimmage against Shaw University in Raleigh on August 21 and then a trip to Guilford Tech on August 23.
The schedule also features a run of seven straight home games from September 14-27.
"This season's schedule is fantastic. With the conference splitting into divisions, we get home and away matches that count towards our standings. It provides some additional opportunities to make any needed adjustments. We also get to compete at home against our in-town neighbor, St. Augustine University and showcase some off our outstanding athletes," said Harris.
In all, Wake Tech will play 12 home dates against 13 opponents including a tri-match on Saturday, September 25, against Bryant & Stratton (Va.) College and Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
